Dear SEAS Graduate Students,
Earlier in the week it was announced that all GW courses will transition online after Spring Break and will remain online through at least April 5. (Any changes to this timeline will be announced by March 27.) This email is to provide additional guidance specific for SEAS graduate students.
The default for all SEAS students, faculty, and staff should be to work remotely until at least April 5. The only people who should be on campus are those supporting essential operations than cannot be managed remotely. As always, our number one priority is safety. For any questions regarding research or GRA responsibilities, please reach out to your individual faculty advisor and lab to determine the proper course of action during this period. If you have questions about a specific course, assignments, or GTA responsibilities, please reach out to the faculty instructor for guidance.
Open Advising and Appointments
Starting on March 16, the Office of Graduate Admissions and Student Services staff will be working remotely but will continue to provide our current graduate students with access to advising and admissions services during Spring Break and the Instructional Continuity Period (March 23 - April 5, 2020). The Advising & Student Services team will hold open advising and general advising during this time period virtually using WebEx. The Graduate Professional Advisors will be offering 30-minute virtual advising appointments at various times throughout the next few weeks and 15-minute Virtual Express Advising appointments on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00pm-5:00pm (typically our open advising time). To schedule either a virtual advising or virtual express advising appointment, please go to our website here to conveniently schedule an appointment through Calendly.
Forms and Email
During this time please submit any forms or documents electronically to [email protected]. The Graduate Professional Advisors will be diligently checking and responding to the [email protected] email Monday-Friday, from 9:00am-5:00pm EDT.
For any admissions-related questions, including questions regarding official transcripts, please email our Admissions Team at [email protected], and someone will assist you.

Please continue to visit the university’s COVID-19 website, go.gwu.edu/covid19, and stay updated on the latest campus messages and guidance.
The novel coronavirus poses a significant challenge for our entire University community and well beyond. However, our SEAS community is proactive, resilient and dedicated to overcoming challenges of all kinds. We will get through this together, even as we are physically apart.
Thank you for your support and patience while we work through the next days and weeks.
Be safe and healthy!
