Removing Lock Files

Linux Help

If you have experienced an error message when opening Cadence such as: "*WARNING* file /home/ugrad/(yourusernamehere)/CDS.log Connection refused" or when opening Firefox: "Firefox is already running, but it is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system", or the application is taking too much time to open (and then never does), you have most likely left behind a lock file.

What is a lock file?
A lock file is a session file that is created upon initial launch of an application such as Cadence or Firefox. When it is created, it must be deleted before the user can begin another session.
